Meet the Team

We're proud of the skills and expertise of the people who make OCF a success. We have one of the largest HPC deployment teams in the UK and our management team has over 75 years of collective experience in the industry.

Julian is a Chartered Accountant, having trained with Ernst & Young in Leeds. After a brief spell working for Ernst & Young in South Africa, Julian returned to the UK becoming a partner in a  Leeds-based accountancy firm. Julian left the accountancy profession in 1990, joining an industrial group as Group Financial Director. During his 6 years there he experienced a broad range of corporate activity including acquisitions, disposals, company reorganisation and company flotation. Julian then entered the world of IT in 1996 joining a predecessor firm of OCF plc, Open Computers and Finance. Julian is a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accounts (FCA) and member of the Institute of Directors (IoD). He has a degree in Economics from Swansea University.

Within a few years at OCF, he gained a great aptitude in learning the basics of HPC and growing with the pace of the industry. He gained the fundamentals of HPC provisioning using CSM, Scali Manage and Oscar. Arif has a particular interest in provisioning systems and he has gained experience in several customer applications including Fluent, Abaqus, StarCD, MpCCI, GTPower, NAMD. He also works closely with IBM on xCAT, and has developed a plug-in for provisioning Ubuntu/Debian. Recently his work has led him to evaluate OpenStack in POC environments to allow him the capability to complement HPC experience with the Cloud, and how it can be integrated into many of the solutions that he has supported.Arif holds an MSc in Advanced topics in Computer Science from Queen Mary, University of London.
