Drawing on over twenty-years of business and accounting experience, Julian is Managing Director of OCF plc. Responsible for the strategic direction of the business and its day-to-day operations, Julian oversees all customer accounts and relationships with key technology partners. Julian was responsible for establishing OCF plc in January 2002, purchasing the business and assets of OCF Limited in a management buy-out.
Julian is a Chartered Accountant, having trained with Ernst & Young in Leeds. After a brief spell working for Ernst & Young in South Africa, Julian returned to the UK becoming a partner in a Leeds-based accountancy firm. Julian left the accountancy profession in 1990, joining an industrial group as Group Financial Director. During his 6 years there he experienced a broad range of corporate activity including acquisitions, disposals, company reorganisation and company flotation. Julian then entered the world of IT in 1996 joining a predecessor firm of OCF plc, Open Computers and Finance. Julian is a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accounts (FCA) and member of the Institute of Directors (IoD). He has a degree in Economics from Swansea University.
Responsible for overseeing all customer accounts and sales, Steve currently manages a team of eight sales people. Steve’s career started with the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1981, followed by positions with British Aerospace (BAE) and finally with computer firm, Pericom. Continuing the OCF trend of mixing technology know-how with sales experience and creativity, Steve has developed strong customer relationships with a range of public and private sector organisations as well as with a number of global technology partners. Steve has a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electronics and Radar. He also holds a number of IBM and Red Hat certifications.
Working for OCF plc since 2002 and with its predecessor firm since December 1995; Russell is OCF's Operations Director. Responsible for a team of 11 HPC and Storage specialists along with the Operations and Project Management teams, Russell has worked his way up from Trainee Engineer, UNIX System Engineer, Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager with OCF plc.
Russell oversees every part of customers’ installations which includes: coordinating delivery of customers’ orders to OCF for pre-installation quality testing purposes; investigating the most effective way of implementing solutions; coordinating the delivery and managing the installation of solutions at customers’ sites and the creation and agreement of Statements of Work and bespoke SLA contracts to ensure that the scope of work is clearly understood by all parties and on-going support packages are tailored to the customers’ needs. Russell is a certified PRINCE2 Project Management practitioner, ITIL v3 certified, holds Linux technical certification from the Linux Professional Institute (LPI), and many IBM professional certifications together with a whole host of qualifications on various other UNIX platforms.
Arif joined OCF in 2003 and is currently Technical Director. Arif has gained vast experience in the HPC and Linux market including sectors such as motor sport, education and research. In the early years at OCF in the role of HPC Engineer he advanced his skills in benchmarking and took a very hands-on approach in tackling problems with products such as DL_POLY and CPMD. Within a few years at OCF, he gained a great aptitude in learning the basics of HPC and growing with the pace of the industry. He gained the fundamentals of HPC provisioning using CSM, Scali Manage and Oscar. Arif has a particular interest in provisioning systems and he has gained experience in several customer applications including Fluent, Abaqus, StarCD, MpCCI, GTPower, NAMD. He also works closely with IBM on xCAT, and has developed a plug-in for provisioning Ubuntu/Debian. Recently his work has led him to evaluate OpenStack in POC environments to allow him the capability to complement HPC experience with the Cloud, and how it can be integrated into many of the solutions that he has supported.Arif holds an MSc in Advanced topics in Computer Science from Queen Mary, University of London.
