The defence industry is increasing becoming more and more high technolgy orientated, from developing nuclear weapons to battlefield command and control systems, even to the use of electronic systems on infantry personnel.
The US has invested huge amounts of money in the computer modelling of the nuclear stock pile. They use very large scale visualisation systems to interpret these results, in ultra-high resolution.
At the other end of the spectrum, battle field simulations can be used to train infranty in immersive environments thus reducing the likelihood of getting it wrong in the field.
Command and control systems are also becoming more and more important as the importance of technology increases. There is a need to understand exactly what assets are available and how to deploy them.
