OCF adopts a collaborative approach to solving its clients IT challenges. We prefer where possible to build our solutions upon IBM server and storage technology and these are augmented by products and services from a wide range of specialist technology partners. By working closely with our partner ‘ecosystem’ and our customer we are able to design tailor-made, best-of-breed solutions to meet individual requirements. Of critical importance to our success is our ability to design systems that are well balanced in terms of compute power, data management and power consumption. We understand the demands that key HPC codes place upon systems and, in conjunction with our partners, we design systems that are optimised to the requirements of the applications.
In the beginning clustered systems were mainly utilised at the departmental level, often running as an appliance for one particular code. Today the technology has moved into the enterprise and systems need to be able to run a suite of codes leading to more complex design and management requirements. OCF has developed a methodology to document and manage the design, implementation and support process which involves full customer engagement at each stage, thus minimising the potential for misunderstanding and maximising the chance of a successful system implementation.
